Headline: Dead Space 2 Box Art Unveiled | Release Date: July 29th, 2010, 07:43 GMT

Electronic Arts has released the box art for Dead Space 2 for all three versions of the title. It features the star of the survival horror action game, Isaac Clarke, in a close up while wearing the helmet of his protective suit. The title will launch in the 25th of January 2011 simultaneously on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

This comes after a series of announcements of products that are meant to increase brand awareness for Dead Space. EA has decided to release a prequel downloadable game, a graphic novel and a animation feature before Dead Space 2 is released. This is meant to bring depth to the universe Visceral Games has created, as well as to get the fans excited for the sequel. PlayStation 3 owners will get the chance to play Dead Space: Extraction using PlayStation Move, if they buy Dead Space 2 for their platform.

Dead Space was quite a strong start for new horror franchise, even if the sales did not really match the hype. The game was still a mild financial success and EA has decided to push on with this series and try to establish a strong foothold on the survival horror market. The demos of Dead Space 2 that have been shown seem to look like good news for the fans. The story and characters have been given more depth this time around and Isaac has been given a voice so that the players are better immersed in his drama.

Electronic Arts is actively pursuing to become the leading force in many popular gaming genres. It has actually succeeded in some. Since the acquisition of BioWare and its uncharacteristic decision to allow the legendary developer some creative freedom, EA has become on the most successful role playing game publishers. The Medal of Honor and Battlefield franchises are clearly up to take-on Call of Duty dominion, while BioWare is also working on a MMORPG, Star Wars: The Old Republic, that is meant to compete with Blizzard's juggernaut, World of Warcraft.
