A friend of my sons has asked me to hack his psp, ive done ours before but they are PSP 2003 and were very easy.
His friends is a PSP 3003 running firmware 4.03 are these only part hackable and return to OFW if restarted or battery taken out etc still?
He just just to play backup cso's on it, nothing else?
many thanks

Yes, once shutdown your CFW will be gone and you will return to OFW. Just redo it again.
Here is a great tutorial on how to do it - http://www.psperspective.net/index.php?showtopic=23042 [Credits to Anemone]

u could make a pandora battery and install 5.03 firmware but then again doing it on a psp slim comes with its own risks

Thanks for that link that should be great.
Couple more questions if you have time please?
In the tut it says:-
What exactly do you run again and how hard/easy it to do, as i said its not for me but for my sons friend and i dont want him to have trouble doing it.
Also with this CFW do the games need to be patched or does this do the patching like my PSP 2003 with GEN 5.50 D3 installed does?
And finally is ChickHENR2 & GEN-C v1.5 in that link the latest version?
many thanks

Pandora and MMS won't work on PSP 3000.
@ gbu
First, The Quote means if you shutdown (Fully) your PSP, the CFW will be gone and OFW will return. You just need to do the same thing how you enabled CFW. Just go tell your son's friend NOT to Shutdown the PSP Fully.
Second, It depends on the games. Most of the games now can be played on the PSP without patching. If you still need to patch use this - http://www.psperspective.net/index.php?showtopic=47290
Third, Yes that is the latest version according to Anemone's post. I motivated him to update it by including the latest CFWEnabler which is the GEN-C.

That's great thanks for the help.
Should the battery die or he does turn it off etc, would he still be able to play his original UMD games if he had to wait to bring it to me to enable the CFW again?

Ok scratch that i finally got it going, i had to change the MS stick to just a 1GB in order for it to work, maybe the 8GB took too long to read it?
If it does get turned off or battery dies, do you just have to re-install GEN-C or the whole ChickHEN as well?

Well yes, your son's friend can still play UMD Games even on OFW. But tell him that if his UMD asks for update so he can play the UMD, Do not update it. Tell him that. If he updates to another firmware then he cannot have CFW anymore.
You should redo the Exploit. ChickHEN does not work all the time. So don't give up if you find it hard to enable it.
But it seems that you have enabled it according to the Topic I gave you.
Well hope this clear out some things.

Guess what? lol
My sons friend turned the psp off!!!
Ok so no biggy i just re-run chickHEN right?
Ok did this and again tried 12+ times but no joy, then was rading about MHUspeed and so i tried it and it worked first time.
The thing is is one better to have over the other or is all they do is allow you to install the CFW?
If thats all it does then i may as well use MHUspeed if it happens unless theres another reason to use chickHEN baring in mind all he's going to do is play backup games .cso etc and nothing else?

Yeah It doesn't matter what HEN Loader you use either ChickHEN or MHUSpeed will work. As long as it can enable HEN to load Homebrews and be able to run CFWEnabler.

IN Anemon's Topic, You see my Topic below the download Link
It has some instructions if you want to use it.
And MHUSpeed3 is almost desame as ChickHEN but it has been modified further...
