I have a psp 1001, and whenever I get ready to play MLB 09 the show the buttons don't respond and the psp shuts down. Also sometimes when I start up my psp it just shuts down by itself, and the battery is fully charged too. I've tried formatting my memory stick, but that only worked for a very short period of time. So if anyone can help me with this just let me know, and thank you very much.
PSP is not completely working

It's probably either the following;
[*] You didn't Mod you PSP right. You should upgrade to 5.50 GEN-D3 Final.
Or
[*] You got a Corrupt ISO/CSO. Try searching for a different one.

Maybe you should switch to 5.00 M33-6 because the Gen firmware does say that it may create problems for the phat psps. Try it out.

See I started off with 5.50 gen d3, and it started freezing on me and the buttons didn't respond so then I downgraded to 5.00 m33-6 and the exact same thing was happening there. And today I tried to update it back to 5.50 gen d3 but my psp just turned off by itself and now its bricked. But thanks anyway icejack1

There are a few factors in play here that could possibly cause this.
1. PSP Flash Writing/Reading
2. MS Reading/Writing
3. Corrupted Power Transfer between PSP and Battery
Solutions
1. Back Up your Flash and Format it. If your PSP isn't able to correctly read and write files coming from your Flash Memory, then you most likely have a corrupted MOBO.
2. Corrupted MS, MS has large files on it and the PSP RAM can't read them all. You can try to keep your MS as a MMS and see if this helps. Make sure to keep your Sony released OFW of your CFW in your MMS at all times.
3. This is a hardware issue and cannot be fixed via software or simple procedures. This is also known to be a "Semi-Fried" PSP.
If you bricked your PSP, then you can follow one of many guides on this site. I have a guide which I made myself in the PSP Tutorials section. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any.

Okay it is bricked but now each time I try to unbrick it all the psp does is shut down, and like I said earlier the battery is fully charged and I even had it on the charger and the psp still shuts down by itself

Well then maybe when you flashed it something went wrong. Try to remember what errors happened during the flashing process. If nothing seems to be the problem then try downgrading to 3.90 and then upgrade to 3.90 M33 then try the game out. If nothing happens. Then your good. If it shuts down then upgrade to 4.01 M33. Then to 5.00 M33. Then if nothing works go to 5.50 GEN first A then D-3 Final. It should work if you followed all my steps.

Could be that your PSP buttons are worn out. But that needs opening of your PSP. There is a Tpoic on how to Open and remove components of your PSP by USMarine. Go and check it out.
If its not worned out, then it is still your Firmware that is causing this.

It could not be your firmware at all, have you ever dropped your psp? we all have by mistake maybe you've dropped your psp so hard or much that you could have ruptured something that is causing your buttons to not work and your psp to not work your probably going to have to take a look inside and see whats happening in there
I think Marine posted a topic that shows easily how to disassemble your psp

Understanding that its not caused by the buttons if you think about it his psp is crashing buttons wont crash your psp (as Marine told me) theres something wrong that is causing the buttons to not work and the psp to crash theres somthing wrong with his system firmware and buttons dont have a part in this

Well Its a PSP 1000. His buttons are probably worn out because of his PSP's age of use. Im thinking about the possibilities here and you could be right that its not his firmware's problem and its his PSP it self's problem.

Well if your sure that your buttons are worned out. You can go and open your PSP and replace with new rubber for your buttons. Go and check USMarine's Topic about that. If you can't do it yourself ask someone.

Yes. That could be the problem. And Im not telling that the buttons cause his PSP problems. He said it himself.

The buttons aren't causing your PSP to crash. Something is causing your PSP to misread the buttons and makes it crash. Which buttons don't respond? The right face buttons, the plate buttons or the arrow buttons?
If it's all of them, then it's the MOBO.
