Defrag the hard drive, run a malwarebytes (to clean registries) optimize start up (turn off programs on start up -> run msconfig (widows key + r) and go to the start up tab, (if applicable make sure that Microsoft products are hidden) and you can uncheck anything like iTunes which doesn't need to boot with Windows.

Do all what Wraith said, But to add up, Install Tune-Up and use the Gain Disk Space Feature of Tune-Up and remove all excess files (especially System Restore Files). This will give you more space on your HDD and somehow speed up the read time of your HDD for files.

You can also use CCleaner as an alternative as it is smaller and free.

Hope this helps! happy.gif

TuneUp is a utility that will make you speed up your system and tweak some of your system files. Basically, TuneUp can do some things Wraith said to you like cleaning reigstry and etc. Malwarebytes, on the other hand is a program that scans your computer for known malwares and or some viruses. Some Malicious files can slow your PC down so it is recommended to scan your PC with it.

I agree it has lots to do with your registery! Your computer's registry is small; but it contains a short file for every program ever run on that computer. That's alot to load at startup and to search through every time you load a program. It is nearly impossible to know what files will be safe to delete or what files are necessary or shared by other programs. Tune Up Utilities will definitely help clear that up
http://www.psperspective.net/index.php?sho...666&hl=tune I download and delete stuff nearly every day and I run this program weekly, every time it completes a scan it fixes at least 15 problems on my PC and my PC is running excellent!
Spybot-Search & destroy is a good program, I don't use it as much as Tune Up Utilities, when ever I get an annoying problem with pop-up adds I run this utility and it finds the problem responsible eliminates them.
