USB and screen wont show up... USB doesn't work and Screen wont come on.

I went into my old computer and took out the processor. It seemed pretty good so i thought maybe it was better than the current one, so i went in and tried to switch them, but the one from my old computer didn't fit, so the only thing i really got out of it was cleaning it out pretty thoroughly with compressed air. but now there's one problem....I put everything back together just fine, but when i turn it on, the fans go one and everything seems fine, but the mouse and keyboard wont work and the screen wont show up. one thing i did notice, though, it that my USB laser mouse (the keyboard is a USB wireless, just so you know) lights up for an instant when the computer turns on. What i mean is the laser flashes one and off, but doesn't come back on. I've been looking at it for a couple hours now and can't figure out a solution. The only thing a really haven't done is take everything apart again and start back on square 1...but with my fan, it takes a really long time, and it's pretty hard. so I'm only going to do that as a last resort. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well it could be that you inserted the CPU Fan wrong or you forced it to place in your Motherboard making your CPU broken. And try removing all of them again and placing them gently. It could be that your RAM was loose or your Video Card. Most cases I experience was with this two things. This two most of the time makes your Monitor to not work and your keyboard and mouse also. Switching RAM slots could also help.
Hope this helps

well, i took it all out, did it over again making sure everything was right, tried switching my ram ports, nothing. so i take out all the ram and try turning it on, and it didn't start beeping. So i think the mobo might just be broken...if it is, than that sucks because it'll take a while to get a new one, if i even do.

Probably Mobo is the problem. I remembered my Pentium 4 PC where I called a repair man when I can't think of any solutions. He also tried everything but there was no beeping sound too and no reaction with the whole system. It just runs and do nothing. He recommended me to buy a new PC since the PC is broken already. Might happens to you too.
And btw. you said that you got an old processor. did you try to put that in your current Mobo? You might force it and damaged the board.

Did you get rid of the static electricity from yourself before touching the insides of the computer? If you didn't and you touched one of the hardware, like your CPU, and the static electricity discharged onto the hardware, that can seriously damage your computer. If you felt a discharge, it possibly was more than 2,000 volts. A discharge as low as 200 volts can destroy your computer chip and you wont even feel the shock at that low of a voltage.
Try starting your computer without the mouse and keyboard not plugged in. It may be possible, highly unlikely, that you may damaged the keyboard by shocking it.
Or, it may be your bios battery, you know the battery the size of a quarter on the mobo. Try unplugging the computer, you should ground yourself to discharge any static buildup, then take out the battery for an hour and put it back in. Doing that should reset the bios.

BUT, unless you think i should just make a new thread, DON'T CLOSE THIS. I might need some opinions on pricing for stuff im gonna sell.
