The above picture is my desktop using the elan themeOk so most people remember how to patch the universal themes from XP or vista right? This works the same way but simplified. This also works with windows 7 or below! here is what to do:
1. Download the following. It has the theme patcher, custom themes and a great tweak:
CODE
http://www.mediafire.com/?myyiy4jzyoz
2. A how-to to patch your computer to use the custom themes can be found below, if you have patched this already, you may skip this spoiler:
ok so extract the RAR above and you will get 3 more RAR files. extract the universal theme patcher.zip:

then, start the program. You should get a screen like this:

Choose the corresponding patcher based on you Windows 32bit or 64bit and OS:
Run patch with UAC turned off. Right-click the exe file, select Run as Administrator.XP/2003 only needs to patch one file: uxtheme.dll
2008/Vista need to patch 3 files: uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll, shsvcs.dll
Windows 7 needs to patch 3 files: uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll, themeservice.dll
Then restart just to be sure
3. Now that you are patched, try out one of the themes I gave you:
Select this rar now:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Choose one...

---------------------------------------------------------------------
extract the one you like and open the folders that say either "Theme" or the theme's title until you find something like this:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
for the above pic^^: 64 bit OS choose the folder that says x64, and 32 bit choose x86
I am personally 64 bit so I will open x64. x86 does the EXACT same thing.
just copy these 2 files. They will be differently named if you are trying a different theme. Common sense really

---------------------------------------------------------------------
copy the folder and the file to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
4. If you choose a theme with another folder called "System Files", read this step, if not, skip it.
If you encounter a folder like this, you have the opportunity to change the start orb, if you do not want to change the start orb, stop right where you are and go to step 5.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
you should then see two folders similar to the ones from step 3:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Again open the one that you are. If there is just one folder or you do not see these two folders in a system files folder then it is only 32 bit.
If a 64 bit user attempts to use this it will screw up your computer. At that point, the only way to fix your computer is a system restore. So if 64 bit is not an option then sorry to say but you cannot change the start orb and you should go to step 5.Anyway, open the correct folder for your computer and you should get an explorer.exe file. This is where the trick part comes in. go to
C:\Windows and scroll down and find the explorer.exe file. right click it and take ownership of it. Don't know how to do that? read this, its an easy way of making your life easier:
CODE
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/
once you have ownership, rename the file to explorer.old and copy the other explorer.exe file from the theme. in the end you should have this in
C:\Windows
close out of it and your done
5. Applying the theme (final Step)
Ok recap. You moved the custom themes into the theme folder and (if you followed step 4) have set up the start orb. Now just to enable them. First off, for the people who followed step 4, keep in mind that no matter which theme you use, the start orb will not change until you change the explorer file. It will also stay to the custom one you set until you change the explorer file.
With that out of the way, right click the desktop and select "personalize" scroll down until you see something like this:

click the file that is the theme you want to try. That is it! it will load and you are all done!
You are done! if I helped you, please donate points! or at least thank me!
