Hey Guys on my old computer i came across the Blue Screen Of Death. (UnMountable_BOOT_Volume) and i couldnt even get into Safe Mode.

So if you are booting your PC and come across a BSoD stating UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, don't despair. Follow the simple steps below to fix this problem.

You Will need the Windows XP CD (Any XP Service Pack).

Here is the Download: Windows XP NASA 2nd Generation SP3 2010.

1) Access the BIOS of the computer by pressing either the Del (delete) key or the F2 key.

2) Once inside the BIOS, set the optical (CD-ROM) drive as the first boot device. Press F10 to save the changes and exit the BIOS. Insert the Windows XP CD into the optical drive. Restart the computer.

3) The "Press any key to boot from CD" message will appear. Press Enter.
Windows will boot into Setup from the CD. Once Setup has loaded, boot into Recovery Console by pressing the R key.

4) Recovery Console will appear. The "Which XP installation would you like to log onto?" window appears. Type the number beside the primary Windows installation. Usually this is denoted by a number 1. Press 1 and then press Enter. If you have a password for your computer, you will type it at when "Type the administrator password" appears. If not, simply press Enter.

5) At the C:\ prompt, type the following: CHKDSK /P This will check the disk for errors and fix any errors found. Once that is done, type FIXBOOT at the C:\ prompt. When you see the "Are you sure you want to write a new boot sector?" prompt, press Enter.

6) Type Exit at the C:\ prompt. If the drive has been flagged as dirty, a surface scan may be initiated upon reboot. The computer will reboot into Windows. Remember to change the boot order back to the Hard Drive.

Cheers Haze1.
