I recently went away for a day and left my computer on for that time, when I came home my computer was off and I tried to boot it up and it would only get to the Windows XP loading bar screen and it would then continue to restart at that same point over and over again. I have tried to boot into safe mode and it doesn't work. I have also tried to go into recovery but my disk drive is not working so I can not recover with the recovery disks. What can I do?

I've had this problem, before you start your computer again, listen to this: My computer did the same thing, It restarted and loaded the thing and restarted over and over again. I kept turning on my computer, I blew out the motherboard(yea not very happy) I later found out that a file in your system that runs in the windows OS called WGA.dat, which is basically what got corrupted and ended up giving me this problem. Now I am not sure about your situation, I had to reinstall Windows XP fresh install. If you had important files, I'm sorry I don't thing you have any options but to either fresh install the OS or take HDD to a local Computer fixing shop to recover data. You can't access the disk drive is a sign of your motherboard going to give in(Not work). I don't know why this problem happened to you but what were you running when you left? I was messing with my OS activation file which caused my situation.

Did you have windows auto update on and install program when finish download?

Anyways, all hope are not lost and you can follow this: <a href="http://www.downloadupdate.net/errorfix.php?kw=Rebooting" target="_blank">http://www.downloadupdate.net/errorfix.php?kw=Rebooting</a>

Or you can use Ultimate CD to recover your files and also fix your rebooting issues, I left the link on this site a while back so it should be under utilities. Just remember to set your PC to boot from CD first, instead of HD.

Here is the latest: <a href="http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Ulti...nload-5992.html" target="_blank">http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Ulti...nload-5992.html</a> Just click on the download link it will be a 256 MB and you can either place it on an USB stick or CD to run it, just know which one to use and set the boot to what you are going to be using it for.

Anyways if you dont know how to boot from CD here its a guide that tells you how to do that: <a href="http://www.hiren.info/pages/bios-boot-cdrom" target="_blank">http://www.hiren.info/pages/bios-boot-cdrom</a>

Here is a good website for all of you with PC problems that have a lot of guides: <a href="http://www.bootdisk.com/" target="_blank">http://www.bootdisk.com/</a>

For those of you with a PC older than a dinosaur that cant boot from a CD drive download this: Utility set up disk http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Here is Ultimete boot CD 4.1.1 update from Cybertech its free: http://www.cybertechhelp.com/download/file...te-boot-cd-full

Sounds like your Operating system is corrupt. Try performing a system recovery in the BIOS menu apon startup. Press F8 when the motherboard manufacturer logo pops up to view the BIOS menu. Select "System Recovery" or something along those lines. See if you can recover lost files, if not, formatting the drive and start from scratch is always a good way to go.
